Polaris Networks launches test tools for end-to-end testing of eMTC (LTE Cat M1) and NB-IoT base stations and devices
San Jose, California, November 14, 2016 – Polaris Networks, a leading provider of testing solutions for LTE technology, today announced the launch of its latest addition to the Polaris NetTest suite, the CIoT Serving Gateway Node (C-SGN) Emulator, a software solution that simulates the optimized core network required for Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT).
As part of the NetTest suite, the C-SGN Emulator enables chip manufacturers for devices and base stations, as well as network equipment manufacturers, IoT service providers, and research and test establishments, to create an end-to-end lab environment for verifying functions and features that characterize enhanced Machine Type Communication (eMTC) and Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) implementations based on 3GPP Release 13 specifications. The C-SGN Emulator supports various features that are specified by 3GPP in its Release 13 standards for IoT, including optimizations in the control plane and the user plane for small data transfer, support for non-IP data transmission, and many other features to provide comprehensive test coverage for verification of IoT devices and equipment. In order to reduce complexity in the setup of a test environment for IoT, the C-SGN Emulator also supports simulation of SMS Central Function (SMS-SC) and the Service Capability Exposure Functions (SCEF).
